One of the things that makes WordPress so special is its developer community and the amazing plugins they create. WordPress plugins are the little chunks of code magic that make your website do the awesome things it does. Over 44,000 plugins, all available directly from the WordPress Plugin Directory.
The only problem is that the design and layout of the directory has long been in need of a facelift. Well, help is on the way.

You’ll notice a clean, flat, minimal design, without distracting borders and boxes. Now the plugins themselves are the obvious focus of the page. Also, the search bar, which is the key function of the page, is prominently located.
The main page now shows the top four Featured, Popular, and Beta plugins, and you can choose to “see all” to view the full list from any of the categories.
